Rubber mats: for the main gate
Rubber mats handle rain, sun and heavy footfall. Our zig-zag mat is 5mm with rubber on both sides, and the lava mat is 12mm heavy-duty rubber. Both are waterproof. To clean them, spray them with a hose or scrub with a brush and they dry quickly.
Pick the lava mat if the entrance gets a lot of mud. Pick zig-zag if you want colour options and a lighter mat.
Artificial grass mats: green look, low effort
A grass doormat looks fresh at the main door and hides dust well between cleanings. The fibres are stain- and water-resistant, and the base has drainage holes, so it is fine in an open balcony. Shake it out or wash it with water. There is also a version with stitched binding on the edges, which stops the border from fraying.
PVC noodle mats: for bathroom and kitchen
The noodle mat is made of springy PVC loops. Water and loose dirt fall through the open coil, so your feet stay dry, and it feels soft to stand on while washing dishes. The anti-slip backing grips a clean, dry floor. Rinse it under a tap once a week.
What size to buy
Measure your door width. The mat should be about as wide as the door, or slightly wider, so both feet land on it. For a standard 3 foot door, a mat around 38×58 cm or bigger works. For double doors or a shop entrance, use a runner or a cut-to-size grass roll.
